Kernex Microsystems (India) Limited has secured a ₹66.62 crore order (including GST) from Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of onboard Kavach equipment for EMU and MEMU trains, the company informed stock exchanges on Sunday.
The contract has been awarded under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, marking another significant order for the railway safety technology company.
Scope of the Order
Under the contract, Kernex Microsystems will undertake the supply, installation, interfacing with electrical systems, testing and commissioning of onboard Kavach equipment for EMU and MEMU trains.
The project will be executed in accordance with RDSO Specification No. RDSO/SPN/196/2020 Version 4.0 (or the latest version) and also includes warranty and Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC) services.
Project Completion Timeline
According to the company, the entire project is scheduled to be completed on or before March 31, 2028.
The order has been awarded by Integral Coach Factory (ICF), one of India’s leading railway coach manufacturing units under the Ministry of Railways.
Domestic Railway Safety Project
Kernex Microsystems clarified that the order has been awarded by a domestic entity and relates to the deployment of the indigenous Kavach train protection system, which is being rolled out across the Indian Railways network to enhance operational safety and prevent train collisions.
The company further stated that neither its promoters nor promoter group companies have any interest in the awarding entity, and the contract does not fall under related-party transactions.
Positive Order Win for Kernex Microsystems
The latest order strengthens Kernex Microsystems’ order book and reinforces its presence in India’s railway signalling and train protection segment. As Indian Railways continues expanding the deployment of the Kavach safety system, such contracts are expected to support the company’s long-term business prospects.
The company said the contract covers the complete execution of onboard Kavach systems for EMU and MEMU trains, including supply, installation, testing, commissioning, warranty and maintenance support.
