India’s digital payments ecosystem achieved another milestone in July 2026, with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions reaching a record ₹29.88 lakh crore. The latest data released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) showed that transaction volumes also climbed to an all-time high of 23.66 billion, reflecting the continued rapid adoption of digital payments across the country.
The record performance follows a brief moderation in June, when UPI transaction value stood at ₹28.9 lakh crore. July’s figures surpassed the previous peak recorded in May 2026, when transaction value had first touched around ₹29.9 lakh crore.
UPI Volume Continues to Rise
According to NPCI data:

- Transaction Value (July 2026): ₹29.88 lakh crore
- June 2026 Volume: 22.72 billion

The steady increase in transaction volumes highlights the growing reliance on UPI for person-to-person (P2P) and merchant payments across India.
Digital Payments Adoption Remains Strong
UPI has become the backbone of India’s digital payments ecosystem, driven by widespread QR-code payments, merchant acceptance, and growing usage among consumers and businesses. The platform continues to register strong year-on-year growth as digital payment adoption expands across urban and rural markets.
