Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified his criticism against the TMC, alleging corruption and dynasty politics within opposition parties like the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress. During a large rally in Siliguri, he urged the people to defeat the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC in West Bengal, asserting that the path to ousting the corrupt government in the state would start from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Highlighting the struggles of mothers across the country for basic necessities, Modi emphasized the importance of initiatives like sanitation, free electricity, bank accounts, and tap water to improve their lives. He criticized the neglect of these needs by successive governments in West Bengal, first by the Left Front and then by the TMC.
Accusing the TMC of plundering the state and fabricating job cards to siphon off central funds allocated under MGNREGA, Modi denounced the party’s exploitation of public resources for personal gain.
In a veiled reference to dynasty politics, Modi criticized the TMC for prioritizing the interests of its nephew, and compared it to the Congress’s focus on the royal family. This remark was likely aimed at TMC’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and the Gandhi family within the Congress.
