The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has completed the payment of ₹1,491.21 crore to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) under the settlement of the long-pending co-location and dark fibre cases, marking a significant milestone as the exchange moves closer to its much-awaited Initial Public Offering (IPO).
The exchange announced that it has paid the remaining ₹714.74 crore following SEBI’s in-principle approval of the revised settlement terms. This amount is in addition to the ₹776.47 crore already deposited earlier, taking the total settlement payment to ₹1,491.21 crore.
SEBI Accepts Revised Settlement Proposal
According to NSE, SEBI communicated its in-principle acceptance of the revised settlement proposal on July 30, 2026, following which the exchange remitted the balance amount demanded by the regulator.
The settlement resolves the long-running regulatory proceedings related to the exchange’s co-location and dark fibre matters that have remained under scrutiny for several years.
Key Milestone Ahead of NSE IPO
The settlement is widely viewed as removing one of the biggest regulatory overhangs for the country’s largest stock exchange as it prepares for its long-awaited IPO.
With all settlement payments now completed, the exchange is expected to move ahead with the next steps in the listing process, subject to regulatory approvals and other applicable requirements.
Total Settlement Amount
The total settlement comprises:
- Earlier payment: ₹776.47 crore
- Fresh payment: ₹714.74 crore
- Total settlement paid: ₹1,491.21 crore
NSE stated that both payments will be adjusted against the settlement amount approved by SEBI.
The development marks a major step toward resolving legacy regulatory issues and provides greater clarity for investors tracking the exchange’s proposed public listing.
