Shares of mining major Vedanta have surged more than four percent over the past two sessions following the approval of its demerger plans by a majority of its lenders. A senior Vedanta official, speaking in a bondholder conference call, stated, “I am happy to inform you all that we have secured over 52 percent, along with the additional percentage needed to reach 75 percent. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was granted bail by a special court in connection with a case filed by the BJP’s Karnataka unit for issuing “defamatory” advertisements in mainstream newspapers. The advertisement, reported by PTI, accused the then BJP government in the state of indulging in large-scale corruption during its 2019-2023 rule, ahead of Assembly polls last year.
