Zerodha, led by Nithin Kamath, has unveiled a new interactive feature called ‘notes’ for traders on the Kite web platform. This enhancement aims to streamline the trading process and improve user experience. With the ‘notes’ feature, users can now provide specific reasons for adding an instrument to their marketwatch, as highlighted by the prominent online stock brokerage.
The addition of the ‘notes’ feature serves to offer users context for the instruments they are monitoring. This enables them to recall the rationale behind adding a particular instrument to their marketwatch at a later time. The feature is personalized for traders, ensuring that they can easily recollect the notable aspects of each instrument whenever they revisit their ‘notes’.
Zerodha provides a simple guide on how to utilize the ‘notes’ feature on Kite web:
How to use ‘notes’ on Kite? Here’s a step-by-step guide:
To add a note to an instrument on the marketwatch:
- Click on ‘’⋯”
- Select Notes.
- Input the reason for adding the instrument.
- Click on ✓
The notes added to an instrument on the marketwatch are specific to that marketwatch and will not be displayed under the same instrument in other marketwatches.
To hide notes from the marketwatch:
- Click on Settings.
- Deselect Show notes.
Currently, the ‘notes’ feature is exclusively available on Kite web, with plans for it to be introduced on the Kite app soon. Users can also save ‘notes’ by pressing Ctrl + Enter and close them by clicking on ✖ or pressing the Esc key. It’s important to note that changes will not be saved if the notes are closed without saving them.
If an instrument is removed from the marketwatch, any associated ‘notes’ for that instrument will also be deleted. Even if the instrument is re-added to the marketwatch, the ‘notes’ will not reappear. Zerodha specifies that users can type up to 512 characters in ‘notes’.
