Zen Technologies Limited has announced that it has secured two major contracts worth ₹289 crore (including GST) from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government of India, for the upgradation of its indigenously developed Anti-Drone Systems (ADS).
The projects are slated for completion within a year and mark a significant step forward in India’s defence modernization efforts, emphasizing the strategic necessity of Indian-designed, developed, and manufactured (IDDM) technologies.
Responding to Operational Needs and Evolving Drone Threats
Zen Technologies stated that the upgrades are based on operational feedback from recent missions, including Op Sindoor, which revealed the need for systems capable of rapid adaptation to changing threat scenarios.
Unlike foreign-sourced products, Zen’s in-house designed ADS enables real-time software and hardware modifications, ensuring faster deployment and improved national security.
Critical Importance of Indigenous Defence Systems
Global incidents such as the Pager attack and Stuxnet malware have underscored the risks associated with relying on foreign defence systems that can be vulnerable to hardware compromise or software malware.
Zen Technologies emphasized that control over every system component, from hardware to embedded software, is essential to national security. Foreign systems often restrict component-level modifications and are subject to vendor approvals and export controls, limiting operational flexibility.
Preparing India for Next-Gen Drone Warfare
With drone technology evolving rapidly — including AI-driven swarm drones and stealth capabilities — Zen Technologies’ IDDM approach ensures continuous modernization to counter emerging threats.
Ashok Atluri, Chairman and Managing Director of Zen Technologies, said:
“Operations like Op Sindoor have made it clear that the pace at which our defence systems evolve determines our ability to secure the nation. Imported systems evolve at a rate set by foreign vendors, not ours. Buying Indian-designed and developed systems is not an option — it’s a requirement for survival as drone and cyber threats continue to evolve.”
