Vedanta Limited on Saturday announced its production results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2025, reporting record output across key metals, led by aluminium, alumina and zinc operations.
Aluminium and Alumina hit record levels
Vedanta posted record quarterly alumina production of 794 kilo tonnes (kt) in Q3 FY26, a sharp 57% year-on-year (YoY) increase, driven by the commissioning of Train II at the Lanjigarh refinery. Alumina production for the nine-month period rose 32% YoY to 2,034 kt, the highest ever for the company.
Total aluminium production stood at 620 kt during the quarter, up 1% YoY, while nine-month aluminium output reached a record 1,842 kt, supported by operational efficiencies at the Jharsuguda facility.
Zinc India posts best-ever quarterly output
Vedanta’s Zinc India business delivered its highest-ever third-quarter mined metal production of 276 kt, marking a 4% YoY rise. Refined metal production also hit a record 270 kt, aided by debottlenecking projects at Chanderiya and Dariba and ramp-up of the Debari roaster.
Silver production stood at 158 tonnes in Q3, marginally lower YoY but up 10% sequentially, aligned with higher lead output.
Zinc International sees strong growth
Zinc International recorded total mined metal production of 59 kt, registering a 28% YoY jump, led by a 40% increase in output at the Gamsberg mine, primarily due to higher throughput.
Oil & Gas output declines YoY
Vedanta’s average daily gross operated oil and gas production came in at 84.9 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd) in Q3 FY26, down 15% YoY, largely due to natural decline in mature fields. Production from the Cambay block increased sequentially, though the block remains under litigation regarding contract extension.
Iron ore, steel and ferro chrome show sequential improvement
Iron ore saleable production rose 49% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to 1.6 million tonnes, while pig iron production increased 6% YoY following successful debottlenecking.
Steel operations reported a 19% QoQ jump in saleable production, with billet output reaching an all-time quarterly high of 285 kt. Ferro chrome production climbed 32% YoY, driven by improved mining activity after the restart of Kalarangiatta mines.
Copper and power businesses perform strongly
Copper cathode production rose to 45 kt, marking the highest quarterly output in seven years, supported by better raw material availability.
Power sales surged 40% YoY to 4,530 million units, supported by the commissioning of Athena (600 MW) and Meenakshi (1,000 MW) power plants. The Athena plant achieved a 72% plant load factor (PLF) in its first full quarter of operations.
Outlook
Vedanta said its diversified portfolio, operational efficiencies, and recent capacity additions continue to support strong production performance across businesses. The company reiterated its focus on operational excellence, cost optimisation, and long-term value creation amid volatile commodity markets.
