The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued the admit card for the Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2024 on Friday, June 7. Scheduled for June 16, 2024, eligible candidates who have completed their registration for the prelims can access their admit cards via the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in by using their login credentials.
Originally slated for May 26, 2024, the UPSC prelims 2024 were postponed due to the General Elections 2024. The admit card will be available for download from June 7 to June 16, 2024.
Containing vital information such as the candidate’s name, roll number, address, category, and father’s name, the UPSC prelims admit card also provides exam details such as the date, time, and location.
To download the admit card, candidates should follow these steps:
- Visit the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in
- Click on the activated link for “e-Admit Card: Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2024”
- A new window named e-Admit Card will open; click on download
- Select “Click here to download the e-Admit card”
- Enter your Registration ID, Date of Birth (DOB), and captcha code
- Click the Submit button
- The UPSC Prelims admit card will appear on the screen
- Download the admit card and take a printout for future reference

Candidates must carry the e-Admit Card (printout) along with an original Photo Identity Card to each session of the exam. The e-Admit Card should be preserved until the final results of the Civil Services Examination, 2024, are declared.
The exam pattern for the UPSC civil services preliminary exam consists of two papers with objective-type questions, totaling 400 marks. The first session covers General Studies (GS), including subjects like Indian polity, Geography, History, Indian economy, Science and Technology, Environment and Ecology, and International relations, from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. The second session, the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), takes place from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm, featuring reasoning and analytical questions, reading comprehension questions, and decision-making questions.
Following the preliminary exam, the UPSC will announce a list of successful candidates eligible for the Main exam, which requires a minimum qualifying score of 33%.
According to the official notification, UPSC 2024 aims to fill 1,056 vacancies across various central government services and departments, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), with 40 seats reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category.
