Today, the Supreme Court of India is set to hear a plea filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and subsequent remand in a money laundering case related to the excise policy. Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta will preside over the hearing.
Kejriwal moved the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea on April 9, where he argued against what he termed as “political vendetta” amidst the backdrop of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Delhi HC emphasized that Kejriwal had ignored nine summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate. Presently, Kejriwal remains under judicial custody in Tihar Jail due to suspicions regarding his involvement in alleged money laundering and excise policy scam cases.
