Sahaj Insurance Services, a subsidiary of Sahaj Retail under the Kanoria Foundation, announced on Friday a strategic partnership with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to distribute insurance products across rural and semi-urban regions of the country.
Under this collaboration, Sahaj’s assisted digital service network will enable citizens to access LIC’s life insurance products and services, helping them understand, enroll in, and manage policies. The initiative aims to increase insurance awareness, enhance policy servicing, and promote wider adoption of life insurance, supporting India’s broader financial inclusion and social security objectives.
Sahaj Insurance Services recently obtained a corporate agency license from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), authorizing it to distribute insurance products nationwide. The company aims to sell around 10 crore policies in its first year, leveraging a network of approximately 4.5 lakh digitally enabled rural centres serving over 70 crore citizens.
The insurance vertical has been designed to provide affordable and simple-to-understand products, with trained Sahaj agents assisting customers in onboarding, policy servicing, and claims processing.
Additionally, Sahaj centres will offer access to government-backed insurance and social security schemes, alongside life and health insurance, further deepening financial inclusion in underserved areas.
