In yesterday’s IPL match SRH Vs CSK, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home on April 5. After winning the toss, Hyderabad opted to bowl first.
Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided a shaky start for CSK, with Ravindra getting dismissed for 12 off 9 balls. CSK reached 25/1 when Ajinkya Rahane joined the crease. Gaikwad’s innings was short-lived as he departed for 26 off 21 balls, leaving Chennai at 54/2 in 7.1 overs.
Shivam Dube’s arrival at the crease sparked a 65-run partnership with Rahane. Dube’s quickfire 45 off 24 balls, including two fours and four sixes, bolstered Chennai’s total. However, Hyderabad’s pacers kept the scoring rate in check.
With three balls remaining in the first innings, MS Dhoni entered the field amidst roaring cheers from the crowd but managed to score only 1 off 2 balls as CSK concluded their innings at 165/5.
In contrast, Hyderabad had a strong start to their innings. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma formed a 46-run partnership in just 2.4 overs. Sharma’s explosive 37 off 12 balls, featuring three fours and four sixes, set the tone for SRH’s chase.
Aiden Markram and Head built a 60-run partnership in the next 7 overs. Markram’s composed 50 off 36 balls propelled Hyderabad closer to their target. Despite a slight slowdown during the middle overs, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s quick 14 off 8 balls ensured SRH reached the target in the 19th over, clinching a 6-wicket victory. This win propelled them to the 5th position on the points table.
Abhishek Sharma was named the Player of the Match for his impactful performance, marking SRH’s second victory in IPL 2024, with Sharma claiming the award on both occasions.
