Rahul Gandhi from the Congress and Annie Raja from the Communist Party of India (CPI) submitted their nominations for the Lok Sabha Election 2024 on Wednesday. Notably, Annie Raja is challenging Rahul Gandhi in the Wayanad constituency.
The polling date for all 20 parliamentary seats in Kerala is April 26, marking the second phase of the nationwide elections. According to the Election Commission notification, the deadline for filing nomination papers is April 4.
Before filing his nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat for a second term, MP Rahul Gandhi led a significant roadshow. During the event, he criticized the BJP and RSS, accusing them of undermining India’s Constitution and democratic principles.
Moving on to asset declarations, Rahul Gandhi’s affidavit reveals significant financial holdings. His stock market investments total ₹4.3 crore, with mutual fund deposits amounting to ₹3.81 crore and ₹26.25 lakh in a bank account. Additionally, he declared ₹55,000 in cash and an annual income exceeding ₹1 crore for the financial year 2022-23.
The movable assets of Rahul Gandhi are valued at ₹9.24 crore, including gold bonds worth ₹15.2 lakh. He also has investments in National Savings Schemes, Postal Savings, insurance policies, and other ventures totaling ₹61.52 lakh.
Rahul Gandhi’s total assets amount to ₹20 crore, including joint ownership of agricultural land with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Delhi’s Mehrauli, and office space in Gurugram valued at ₹11 crore.
Annie Raja’s total assets are comparatively modest, totaling just ₹72 lakh. She declared ₹10,000 in cash, bank deposits of ₹62,000, jewellery valued at ₹25,000, and an inherited property worth ₹71 lakh.
