Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver speeches at four election rallies across two states on April 16 as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
PM Modi is slated to address public gatherings in Gaya and Purnea of Bihar. This marks his third visit to Bihar in approximately two weeks. Gaya will vote in the first phase on April 19, while Purnea is scheduled for the second phase on April 26.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will speak at a rally in Balurghat and Raiganj of West Bengal today. Both constituencies are slated for voting in the second phase of general elections on April 26.
In other developments, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a rally in Palora of Jammu and Kotdwar in Uttarakhand. Jammu votes on April 26, while Kotdwar under the Gadwal constituency will vote in the first phase on April 19. BJP national president JP Nadda will conduct three roadshows in Tamil Nadu, where all 39 seats will vote in the first phase on April 19.
From the opposition, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi continues his campaign in Kozhikode, Kerala, while his sister and AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will participate in roadshows in Jorhat, Assam, and Agartala, Tripura, today. Congress President Malikarjun Kharge will attend public meetings in Nagaland and Karnataka.
In another development, the Supreme Court is expected to hear a plea seeking cross-verification of votes cast in EVMs with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) today.
Voting for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will be conducted in seven phases, with the first phase scheduled for April 19. Vote counting will take place on June 4.
