Prime Minister Narendra Modi disclosed personal assets valued at Rs 3.02 crore in the affidavit submitted while filing his nomination for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on May 14.
According to the mandatory affidavit required under Indian election rules, PM Modi reported no investments in bonds, debentures, shares, or mutual funds. He declared holding a total of Rs 52,920 in cash as of March 31, 2024.
Additionally, the Prime Minister’s assets include Rs 2.86 crore in fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) at the State Bank of India (SBI), along with Rs 80,304 held in SBI savings accounts. Modi also declared Rs 9.13 lakh in National Savings Certificates and four gold rings weighing 45 grams valued at Rs 2.68 lakh. However, he did not report owning any immovable property.
Modi also disclosed that Rs 3.33 lakh was deducted as income tax for the financial year 2023-24.
Regarding income sources, Modi declared income from two sources: salary from the Prime Minister’s Office and interest income. His total income, as per his income tax return (ITR) for the financial year 2022-23, was Rs 23.56 lakh.
Accompanied by several leaders of the National Democratic Alliance and chief ministers of NDA-ruled states, Modi filed his Lok Sabha nomination papers from Varanasi, his constituency for the past 10 years. Prior to filing the papers, he offered prayers and performed aarti at Dashwamedh Ghat.
Varanasi is scheduled to vote on June 1 in the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
