In a festive update for Mumbaikars, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced extended timings for Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 during the Ganpati festival 2025, from 27 August to 6 September.
The Yellow Line (Line 2A) runs from Dahisar East to Andheri West, while the Red Line (Line 7) connects Dahisar East to Gundavali in Andheri East. During the 10-day festival, the last trains from terminal stations — Andheri West (Line 2A) and Gundavali (Line 7) — will depart at 12 AM, instead of the usual 11 PM.
Increased Metro Services
- Weekdays: 317 services, including 12 additional trains, with 5 min 50 sec headway during peak hours and 9 min 30 sec during non-peak hours.
- Weekends: 256 services, including 12 additional trains, with 8 min 06 sec peak hour headway and 10 min 25 sec non-peak headway.
MMRDA Chief Sanjay Mukherjee stated that the extended services ensure safe, reliable, and convenient travel, while MMMOCL Managing Director Rubal Agarwal added that it will help commuters reach their favourite Ganpati pandals without traffic delays.
Railways to Operate Additional Ganpati Special Trains
The Indian Railways will also run 367 additional trains to handle festive travel demand, particularly from Mumbai to the Konkan region.
- Central Railway: 296 services
- Western Railway: 56 services
- Konkan Railway (KRCL): 6 services
- South Western Railway: 22 services
The Ganpati Special trains will halt at key stations across Konkan Railway, including Kolad, Mangaon, Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi Road, Madgaon, Karwar, Udupi, and many more, catering to thousands of devotees traveling for the festival.
