Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, is preparing for the grand celebration of Shri Krishna Janmotsav, with authorities expecting more than five million devotees to visit between Friday and Saturday. Pilgrims from across the country will flock to key temples, including the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple Complex, Banke Bihari Temple, and Dwarkadheesh Temple, The Times of India reported.
The district has been divided into multiple sectors and zones for better crowd management, with over 3,000 police personnel deployed. The Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) will also monitor social media to prevent any untoward incidents. “We hope pilgrims have a smooth and safe experience,” said Mathura SSP Shlok Kumar.
Arrangements have been made for VIP and emergency movement, with the Veterinary College grounds’ helipad ready for use. The Janmabhoomi temple complex is under tight surveillance with 150 CCTV cameras, plus 100 more in surrounding areas. For the first time, AI-powered drones will monitor the gatherings from above.
The celebrations, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad under the Shri Krishnotsav banner, will run from August 15 to 17. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to attend for two days.
Nearby pilgrimage sites like Vrindavan, Gokul, Barsana, Nandgaon, Govardhan, and Mahavan are also being decorated, with roads leading to Janmasthan showcasing vibrant Braj culture.
This Year’s Special Theme
In a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces, the Janmasthan complex will be decorated on the theme of Operation Sindoor. Festivities will begin on August 15 with a grand procession starting from the temple’s main gate, moving through Potra Kund, Govind Nagar, and Deeg Gate, before returning to the starting point.
The parade will blend devotion and patriotism, featuring around 250 folk artists from Braj, Bundelkhand, Rajasthan, and Haryana, along with traditional performances like Bundelkhand’s Rai, Rajasthan’s Kachhi Ghodi, and Haryana’s Gujri.
