Iran has cautioned the US to avoid involvement in the conflict with Israel following a suspected consulate attack in Syria. The Biden administration is increasingly worried about potential assaults in Israel or on military installations.
Mohammad Jamshidi, the Iranian president’s deputy chief of staff for political affairs, cautioned the US against being ensnared in Benjamin Netanyahu’s tactics.
The United States is on heightened alert and bracing for what it anticipates to be a “significant” retaliation from Iran targeting either Israeli or American interests in the area.
In recent days, an Israeli airstrike struck the Iranian consulate in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of at least seven Iranians, including two generals.
Following the recent incident, Israel has remained vigilant, taking measures such as canceling home leave for combat troops, mobilizing reserves, and reinforcing air defenses. Additionally, the Israeli military disrupted navigational signals over Tel Aviv to counter potential threats from GPS-guided drones or missiles.
Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, acknowledged the likelihood of a response from Iran but emphasized that his group would not intervene in such decisions. Nasrallah remarked that the region could witness a new phase depending on Israel’s subsequent actions, underscoring the significance of the situation.
Nasrallah, who lives in hiding, highlighted the coordinated work of Iran’s so-called resistance groups in the region.
Hezbollah, the Middle East’s most powerful militia, said the group hasn’t used “its primary arsenal” in the daily skirmishes with Israel along the southern border of Lebanon since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7.
Hezbollah is “completely prepared and ready” for any war with Israel, Nasrallah said.
