IMD Forecasts Rainfall and Snowfall in Western Himalayan Region from 11th to 14th March
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall or snowfall in the Western Himalayan Region from the 11th to the 14th of March. Additionally, isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over adjoining plains from the 12th to the 14th of March. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions are forecasted to prevail over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Kerala for the next two days.
Snowfall Alert in Himachal Pradesh
In Himachal Pradesh, more than 360 roads, including three National Highways, remain closed due to recent snow and rain. The Shimla Meteorological Office has predicted a wet spell starting from the 10th of March. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of March 10th, as reported by PTI. The meteorological department also forecasts isolated light to moderate rainfall or snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh on the 10th of March, with scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall or snowfall expected from the 11th to the 14th of March, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning.
IMD Rainfall Alert
Regarding rainfall activity, isolated to scattered rainfall is predicted over Punjab during the 12th to 14th of March and over Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh on the 13th and 14th of March. Additionally, IMD forecasts isolated rainfall over Odisha during the 8th to 10th of March and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on the 9th of March. In North East India, IMD has issued an alert for light rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on the 13th and 14th of March.
Delhi Weather Update
According to RWFC Delhi, partly cloudy skies with strong surface winds reaching speeds of 25-35 kilometers per hour are expected today. The minimum and maximum temperatures are forecasted to settle around 11 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital is in the ‘moderate’ category, with a reading of 146 at 7.30 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
