The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has opted to reschedule CA exams due to the Lok Sabha elections, slated from April 19 to June 1. The revised exam dates will be disclosed today, March 19. Additionally, the ICAI CA exams are already planned for May. The Lok Sabha elections of 2024 will span from April 19 to June 1, with vote counting set for June 4.
Previously, the intermediate group 1 exams were set for May 3, 5, and 7, and group 2 exams for May 9, 11, and 13. The final exam for group 1 was scheduled on May 2, 4, and 6, and for group 2 on May 8, 10, and 12. It remains uncertain whether the CA foundation exam date will be rescheduled. The foundation exams are scheduled for June 20, 22, 24, and 26. The ICAI’s official notification mentioned that the institute will provide the revised schedule for the May 2024 examinations.
Several competitive and entrance exams also coincide with this year’s Lok Sabha elections. The CUET-UG exams are scheduled between May 15 and 31, with two exam dates overlapping with the election dates, namely May 20 and 25. The NEET UG 2024 exam, set for May 5, reportedly will not be postponed.
However, UGC Chairman, M Jagadesh, affirmed that UG exams will proceed as scheduled. He stated, “NTA will conduct CUET-UG, as announced earlier, between May 15 and May 31, 2024. In this period, two dates overlap with the election dates on 20 and 25 May.” He further mentioned that NTA will announce the CUET-UG date sheet between May 15 and 31, after assessing the number of registered students and their geographical distribution post the application deadline on March 26, 2024.
