In response to the overlap between the Lok Sabha Election schedule and the official Chartered Accountants (CA) exam timetable, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced plans to reschedule the exams and provide new dates.
According to an official notification released by the institute, the revised schedule for the May 2024 examinations will be published on the evening of March 19, accessible via the official website www.icai.org.
The notification highlights, “The Election Commission today announced the schedule of Election to the 18th Lok Sabha, to be held from April to June 2024. The Lok Sabha Election, spanning 7 phases, will commence on April 19, 2024, and conclude on June 1, 2024, with counting scheduled for June 4, 2024.”
ICAI further elaborated, “Consequently, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India will release the detailed revised schedule of May 2024 Examinations on March 19, 2024 (Evening).”
Previously, the institute had issued an official exam calendar outlining the schedule for exams scheduled in May this year. According to the earlier calendar, the foundation course exam was slated for June 20, 22, 24, and 26.
Furthermore, the intermediate group 1 exams were originally scheduled for May 3, 5, and 7, while the group 2 exams were set for May 9, 11, and 13. The final exam schedule included May 2, 4, and 6 for group 1, and May 8, 10, and 12 for group 2.
This year, the aforementioned exams will also take place at eight overseas examination centres, including Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Bahrain, Thimpu (Bhutan), Kathmandu (Nepal), Muscat, and Kuwait.
