Homebuyers and residents of various group housing societies in Noida and Greater Noida West are expressing dissatisfaction over pending registries by launching a “No Registry, No Vote” campaign ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. They’ve indicated that they may abstain from voting or choose NOTA if their flat registries remain unresolved. Some societies have prominently displayed banners with the campaign slogan, signaling their stance to politicians visiting their areas for election campaigning.
The frustration stems from a history of unfulfilled promises by politicians regarding registry matters. Residents of numerous societies, including Gaur Saundaryam, Gardenia Glory, Futec Gateway, Himalaya Pride, Nirala Greenshire, Ajnara Homes, and Shivalik Homes, among others, are actively participating in this campaign.
One of the resident, highlighted that over 300 homebuyers in his society have been awaiting registries since February 2021 due to unresolved compensation issues. Despite assurances from the Uttar Pradesh government to address the matter, no progress has been made. Similarly, residents of other societies like Ajnara Homes and Gardenia Glory voiced their grievances, emphasizing their long wait for registry completion, spanning several years.
The data from development authorities reveals a significant number of pending registries, adding to the frustration of homebuyers. While some progress has been made in executing registries, the pace remains slow, contributing to the residents’ dissatisfaction.
Abhishek Kumar, president of Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA), highlighted that despite some progress, many recommendations from the Amitabh Kant committee, particularly delinking registries from builder dues, have not been implemented fully. This has perpetuated the suffering of homebuyers, leading to their decision to boycott the elections in protest.
Overall, the “No Registry, No Vote” campaign reflects the deep-seated frustration and disillusionment among homebuyers in Noida and Greater Noida West, demanding swift action from authorities and politicians to resolve pending registry issues.
