On Tuesday, Hamas rejected US President Donald Trump’s allegation that the Palestinian militant group was hindering efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.
In a statement, Hamas said, “Hamas has never been an obstacle to reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The US administration, the mediators, and the entire world know that the war criminal (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu is the sole party obstructing all attempts to reach an agreement.”
Earlier the same day, Trump, speaking at the UN General Assembly, had accused Hamas of refusing to release hostages held in Gaza and of rejecting a ceasefire.
