Market Performance
At the close of trading, the Sensex was up 142.87 points, or 0.17%, at 82,000.71, and the Nifty gained 33.20 points, or 0.13%, to settle at 25,083.75.
Indian equities saw a mixed close as markets balanced short-term caution with underlying optimism. Profit-taking emerged after the recent rally, while concerns over stretched valuations, muted Q1 earnings, and rising domestic bond yields influenced sentiment. However, upbeat macroeconomic data, including India’s record-high composite PMI for August, highlighted strength in both manufacturing and services.
