The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has announced the launch of a FASTag Annual Pass for private vehicles, effective 15 August, offering significant savings for frequent highway travellers.
What is the FASTag Annual Pass?
The FASTag Annual Pass allows private vehicles—such as cars, jeeps, and vans—to travel toll-free through designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.
Unlike the standard FASTag system where toll charges are deducted per trip, this pass provides unlimited convenience within its validity limits.
FASTag Annual Pass Price
- Cost: ₹3,000 per year
- Usage Limit: Up to 200 toll crossings
For regular commuters on toll-heavy routes, this could mean huge savings.
For example, if the average toll is ₹50, a traveller would normally spend ₹10,000 for 200 trips. With the annual pass, the same travel would cost only ₹3,000—less than one-third of the usual expense.
FASTag Annual Pass Validity
- Valid for 1 year from the activation date or 200 transactions, whichever is earlier.
- Once either limit is reached, the FASTag will automatically revert to a regular pay-per-trip mode.

- Your FASTag must be installed correctly, linked to your account, and active before you can purchase the Annual Pass.
This scheme is expected to benefit daily commuters, long-distance travellers, and those using expressways frequently, making road travel more affordable and hassle-free.
