On Sunday, several farmer outfits, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, organized a march in Mohali in solidarity with the CISF woman constable allegedly involved in an altercation with actor and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut.
Demanding a fair investigation into the matter, farmer leaders emphasized the importance of ensuring justice for the woman constable, Kulwinder Kaur. The march, which commenced from Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali, saw adequate security arrangements.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, a prominent farmer leader, stressed the need for an impartial probe to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident, emphasizing the importance of ensuring fairness for the constable.
Additionally, farmer leaders criticized Ranaut for purportedly making inflammatory statements against the people of Punjab.
The CISF has initiated a court of inquiry into the incident, while the Mohali Police has filed charges against Kaur under IPC sections 323 and 341, both of which are bailable offenses.
In a video statement, Ranaut claimed to have been hit in the face and verbally abused by the constable during a security check at Chandigarh airport.
The constable, as per Ranaut’s account, allegedly expressed support for the farmers’ protests before the altercation ensued.
Ranaut’s assertions have sparked a controversy, with social media abuzz with various perspectives on the incident, including a purported video featuring the constable providing her version of events.
