Elon Musk has reignited speculation about a potential “fight” between himself and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg. In response to a suggestion from a user on X (formerly Twitter), the billionaire tweeted, “I’m ready to fight Zuck anywhere, anytime with any rules. LFG!!!”
The Saga Continues: Musk vs. Zuckerberg
Back in August 2023, amid widespread rumors and speculation about a potential cage fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta Platforms CEO stated that Musk wasn’t serious about the competition and urged everyone to move on from the speculation, as reported by Bloomberg.
In a post on Meta’s Threads, Zuckerberg expressed his readiness for the challenge if Musk ever decided to get serious about setting up a real date and official event.
“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legitimate competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously,” Zuckerberg’s Meta Threads post stated.
The public feud between the two tech titans, Musk (52) and Zuckerberg (39), began following the launch of X’s rival Threads platform and escalated after the initial success of Meta’s Threads social media platform in July. Threads, similar to X, allows users to post short blurbs and quickly gained 100 million users within a week of its launch.
Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, had been hyping the possibility of a fight between himself and Zuckerberg for weeks. However, Musk later revealed that he would undergo an MRI of his neck and upper back, possibly requiring surgery, as reported by Bloomberg.
Zuckerberg, 39, is known to be an amateur mixed martial arts fighter and has trained in jiu-jitsu. In June, a video of the Facebook CEO training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu went viral. The video, shared by Lex Fridman, who has been training with Zuckerberg, also expressed interest in training with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
