Top Congress leaders convened on Friday to deliberate on the party’s Lok Sabha election candidates for the three constituencies it is contesting in Delhi. Sources indicate that an announcement regarding the candidates is imminent.
In Delhi, where the Congress has formed an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party, it is fielding candidates for three out of the seven Lok Sabha seats.
Additionally, the Congress Election Committee convened to discuss candidate selection for the states of West Bengal and Haryana, with a significant presence of senior leaders.
Chaired by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, the meeting saw the participation of former party chief Sonia Gandhi, General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal, and senior leaders Salman Khurshid and P L Punia, among others.
With the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to commence on April 19, the party has already announced candidates for over 230 constituencies.
