In the Karnataka Assembly, chaos erupted as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers protested against the ruling Siddaramaiah government, citing an alleged video showing supporters of Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain chanting pro-Pakistan slogans.
R Ashoka, the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, demanded the immediate arrest of the individual responsible for the pro-Pakistan slogans.
Meanwhile, Byadagi Police announced on Thursday that they had detained Mohmad Shafi Nashipudi, a trader and supporter of Syed Naseer Hussain, for questioning. They stated, “We have obtained his voice sample and brought him in for analysis regarding the alleged pro-Pakistan slogan video. He was present at Vidhana Soudha with Syed Nasser Hussain during the celebrations following the Rajya Sabha election victory.”
Responding to the allegations, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated that there were no pro-Pakistan slogans uttered at Vidhana Soudha. He assured that the police would take strict action if any such slogans were found to have been raised.
“We have instructed the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation and prosecute those responsible. If there is an attempt to spread falsehoods, severe action will be taken,” he affirmed.
Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain dismissed the BJP’s accusations, asserting that his supporters were chanting “Naseer Sahab Zindabad, Naseer Khan Zindabad, Naseer Khan Zindabad,” and denied any involvement in pro-Pakistan slogans.
Expressing suspicion over the authenticity of the video shared by the BJP, Hussain emphasized, “If this video is doctored, the responsible individuals and those circulating it should be held accountable and face consequences.”
Congress leader and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge also denied the BJP’s claims, clarifying that the chants were in support of “Naseer Hussain and Syed Sahab Zindabad.”
