The Government of India has constituted a High-Level Committee to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, according to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Culture on August 25, 2025.
The panel will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will oversee year-long commemorative events across the country.
Key members of the committee
The committee includes several former and current dignitaries, such as:
- Former Presidents Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Ram Nath Kovind
- Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu
- Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda
- Former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani
- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla
- Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, S. Jaishankar, Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal
Several chief ministers and governors are also part of the committee, including:
- Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh)
- Bhupendra Patel (Gujarat)
- Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra)
- M.K. Stalin (Tamil Nadu)
- Siddaramaiah (Karnataka)
- Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala)
Other prominent figures include PT Usha (Olympian and MP), actor Paresh Rawal, spiritual leaders Mata Amritanandamayi and Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, sculptor Ram V. Sutar, and former Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar.

The Centre has also announced similar high-level committees to commemorate the 150th birth anniversaries of tribal icon Birsa Munda and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
