Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, announced on Saturday that the BJP, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), and the Jana Sena Party have reached an understanding to form an alliance for the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Naidu expressed confidence in the alliance’s ability to secure victory in Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing the benefits of collaboration between the BJP and the TDP for both the country and the state.
According to sources, the alliance discussions concluded after a second round of talks among senior leaders from the three parties. It is anticipated that the BJP and the Jana Sena Party will jointly contest approximately eight and 30 Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, respectively.
The TDP is expected to contest the remaining 17 Lok Sabha and 145 Assembly seats. While the official announcement is pending, it is speculated that the BJP might contest around six Lok Sabha and an equal number of Assembly seats in the state.
The agreement was reached during discussions involving TDP leader Naidu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J P Nadda, and Jana Sena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan. The Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are scheduled to be held concurrently in Andhra Pradesh.
