Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari, made a symbolic gesture on social media by changing their names on the platform to ‘Modi ka Parivar’ (Modi’s family) on Monday.
This move came shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Telangana, where he emphasized, “140 crore countrymen are my family.” He expressed solidarity with millions of citizens, stating, “Today, crores of daughters, mothers, and sisters of the country are Modi’s family. Every poor person in the country is my family.” The Prime Minister’s remarks were aimed at fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity.
PM Modi’s assertion of ‘Modi ka Parivar’ was seen as a response to criticism from the INDIA bloc alliance, particularly targeting RJD leader Lalu Yadav’s remarks. Lalu Yadav had questioned PM Modi’s family status during a rally in Patna, to which PM Modi replied, “The entire country is saying that they are part of Modi’s family.” He emphasized that even those who feel marginalized or neglected are included in his vision for the nation.
In a show of solidarity with PM Modi, several senior BJP leaders, including Piyush Goyal, JP Nadda, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, appended ‘Modi ka Parivaar’ to their names on social media platforms. This act underscored their support for the Prime Minister’s vision and commitment to inclusivity.
