Ayodhya, already a spiritual hub of India, is set to unveil a Ramayana-themed wax museum (Ramayana Wax Museum) during Deepotsav 2025. The 10,000-square-foot museum, located on the Parikrama Path of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, will feature around 50 lifelike statues of characters from the Ramayana, alongside immersive recreations of iconic episodes.
The project, spearheaded by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has seen an investment of nearly ₹7.5 crore, according to officials.
What the Museum Will Showcase
Visitors can expect statues of:
- Lord Ram, Mata Sita, Lakshman, Lord Hanuman, Sugriv, and Jatayu, among others.
- Each figure is crafted with intricate expressions, authentic costumes, and historical accuracy, making them appear lifelike.
Highlights include:
- Ram vs Ravana battle recreated in wax artistry
- Sita’s abduction and Hanuman’s journey to Lanka
- Ram Setu recreation using a blend of wax and modern technology
- Audio-visual effects and interactive displays for children and youth
The statues are being created by a Maharashtra-based organization in collaboration with experts from Kerala, ensuring authenticity and fine detail.
Part of Yogi Government’s Ayodhya Vision
The museum aligns with efforts to transform Ayodhya into a global tourist and cultural hotspot. Following the completion of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, the city has seen a surge in visitors, prompting projects like road widening, Saryu ghats beautification, and heritage infrastructure upgrades.
Officials say the museum will not only enhance Ayodhya’s cultural appeal but also promote the values of the Ramayana and Indian heritage globally.
Executed Under PPP Model
Ayodhya Municipal Commissioner Jayendra Kumar confirmed the museum is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, similar to the Bhool Bhulaiya project in Amaniganj. Construction is progressing rapidly and is being closely monitored to meet the Deepotsav 2025 deadline.
Divisional Commissioner Rajesh Kumar said the Wax Museum will add a new dimension to Ayodhya’s cultural heritage, complementing other city development projects.
Deepotsav 2025: Opening Dates
The museum is set to open during Deepotsav 2025, held from October 28 to 31, with the main diya-lighting ceremony on October 30. Millions of diyas illuminate the city every year, creating a globally recognized spectacle. The launch of the Ramayana Wax Museum is expected to make this year’s festival even more memorable.
