Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, presently in ED custody in connection with a money laundering case linked to excise policy, is scheduled to appear before the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi at 11 am today, April 1. The court extended Kejriwal’s ED custody until April 1 during a hearing on March 28. The AAP leader was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with an alleged liquor policy case.
The investigative team filed a remand request on Thursday, citing the need for additional time to question the Delhi CM and confront him with other individuals. The ED informed the court that they are recording statements from some AAP candidates in Goa. ASG SV Raju, representing the ED, stated that Kejriwal has been uncooperative, providing evasive responses despite having his statements recorded.
The ED has accused Kejriwal of being one of the main conspirators in the liquor scam. According to the agency, the Delhi CM received significant kickbacks from the ‘South Group’ for formulating Delhi’s excise policy and allegedly used those funds in the Goa and Punjab elections.
